Christmas Berries

Christmas Eve and there are abundant berries on the Toyon. This native Californian plant is valuable for a number of reasons:

• Berries provide food for many species of birds and animals
  

• Flowers are a good source of nectar and pollen for bees

Drought tolerant and frost tolerant

• Fire resistant with some summer irrigation

• Excellent erosion control on slopes
